If there are two things I need to know about you, they are as follows:
Are you a Glinda or an Elphaba?
How much do you plan to cry when you see Wicked this week?
I am a forever musical theatre nerd and I love a good theme so I’ve been counting down to the Wicked movie for about 198230823 days now. Friends and I are going to see it together and I plan to theme it to the hilt! When friends and I saw Barbie I made little all-pink, girl power gift bags full of hot pink sunglasses, lip gloss, etc. So for this movie outing I have some ideas magical enough to compete with Oz and to celebrate while we look to the western skies.
Cute makeup to look snazzy (and maybe even a little green) in the theater! My husband knows me well and got me this r.e.m. beauty x Wicked Elphaba Makeup Set for my birthday last month. I plan to wear a full Elphie-inspired face because I AM that girl.
In general, Target has a TON of Wicked stuff right now due to their partnership with the film and some product/retailer exclusivity. I think this is a GREAT marketing campaign and seriously that commercial with Cynthia Erivo singing the Elphaba riff in a Target aisle gives me goosebumps every time. Don’t want to spring for the pricey toys or apparel for your movie outing? Easy peasy, make some shirts, hit up Etsy, or stick to the green and pink theme.
A sweet treat is always a great way to celebrate anything in my book! From these adorable Wicked cookie sandwiches to this Elphaba bark, there’s no shortage of delicious bites to celebrate our fave Shiz students. And don’t forget the popcorn! A big batch of popcorn with green and pink sprinkles tossed in is a fun, easy way to be on theme and eatin’ good.
I live for a good sweatshirt - just ask my filled-to-the-gills closet. This Shiz sweatshirt is an amazing Etsy find and cute enough to wear even when I’m not belting out Popular with a theater full of fellow nerds. I also loooove this one.
Much like sweatshirts, I am an absolute sucker for a cute pair of themed earrings. While I probably won’t wear a big pair of Cynthia-Ariana faces on my ears more than once, these chunky jewels are affordable and enough of a statement piece that I’d wear them for other events, too! Going for more of a Glinda the Good Witch vibe? Don’t worry, they are also available in pink.
As you head toward the Emerald City, you don’t have to spend a fortune to celebrate seeing your girls on screen. Thank Goodness! While themed sweatshirts, earrings, and the like are ultra fun you can also surprise your movie-mates with a quick and budget friendly Wicked witch kit. I love to surprise friends with a little gift when we do something fun together! Hit up your local dollar store or Target dollar section and fill a small green or pink gift bag with candy, popcorn, pink lip gloss, green nail polish, and pink or green to-go tissues (seriously! We plan to CRY!).
So with Wicked under our belts…when are we making Six the Musical into a movie?
