With a freshly ten year old boy (who I still think of as a baby but he definitely is not) and an eight year old boy following quickly behind, it is safe to say I am now a “tween mom” - it’s like a “cool mom” but way more tired and my house always smells like boy. Shopping for the holidays this year seems to be a blend of toys and also bigger kid stuff. When it comes to stockings, I heard Santa has a few ideas on his list for my big kids.
Cards of All Kinds
My kids LOVE trading cards of all kinds. My younger one is all Pokemon cards and my older one is all baseball cards. Target is a great option for a few packs to fill their stockings.
Deodorant & Bath Stuff
Start the habit before you need the habit is the official mantra of parents of tween boys everywhere. Santa loves to leave a little smell-good helper in the stockings and my kids LOVE the Native seasonal offerings - like my eight year old recently spent 20 minutes in the deodorant aisle smelling every variation so he could pick his new signature scent. Hey, if they are excited for deodorant? We can call that a win.
Cool Art Supplies
Colored pencils remain a stocking staple every year. My kids love to draw and journal and the holidays are a time where we find them extra fun supplies, like these swirled colored pencils.
Travel Games
We are a board game family FOR SURE. My kids will love these travel sized games to play at home or on-the-go.
Silly Socks
I think there is a silly sock bell curve some kids follow - cute toddler socks with rainbows or bugs on them, then we need all white plain socks for the cool factor, then we go back to printed socks with extra silliness. We are on the silly side (thank goodness!) so these goofy printed socks and sushi socks are a stocking must-have and they also help fill that pesky toe part of any stocking that can be tough to fit things into AND help us out on the inevitable “silly sock” school spirit days.
We are in the full holiday swing over here so you can keep up with my other tween boy stocking stuffer finds and more holiday shopping picks here and here. Looking for some stocking stuffer ideas for tween girls? Check out Molly’s reccs here.
