Here’s what the brains behind The PR Edit are currently eating, doing, thinking, and more…
Welcome to Currently- a monthly feature on The PR Edit! A throwback to old school blogging, Currently posts were some of our favorite ways to see what our fave blogger girls were wearing, listening to, and more. Now it is a fun way to share a quick snapshot of what is going on right at this absolute minute for both Molly and Sarah.
So Molly is currently…
....eating TONS of beans. I have a firm daily fiber goal (30g minimum, NO exceptions) and I was helping myself get there with some high-fiber, low carb tortillas. Until Dr. Mark Hyman posted a study that showed one of the emulsifying ingredients IN those tortillas was linked to increased cancer risk. No thanks, I’ll grab my fiber elsewhere. Beans are my go to + quinoa and wheat berries. So, I’ve been batch cooking those regularly.
...making pie! I made my very first homemade pie (pear!) for my husband’s birthday - he made a New Year’s Resolution that the only dessert he would eat in 2025 would be homemade pie … so what else could I do? It wasn’t half bad, though next time I certainly need to make more dough. Bonus: I inspired my daughter - she and her friend used a recent sleepover get together to make their very own apple pie from scratch. I like where this delicious trend is going in our household.
...listening to audiobooks galore! I happened to get off the waiting list for a coveted book on Libby (Buy Back Your Time, Dan Martell) and that set off a trend. My daughter’s Kindle came with a free trial subscription to Audible and she was generous enough to share, so now I’m listening to The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt.
...reading real books too. One that I have loved was The Kitchen Garden Revival as I have recently been inspired (as I am every spring) to replant our raised beds and try to live off the land this warm weather season. You can see the beginnings of my attempt, but who knows what will happen?
...watching 1923. It’s back for another season, baby! Love me some Taylor Sheridan. If you don’t have Paramount+, I would say that you should get it JUST TO WATCH THIS SHOW.
...loving our new baby chicks. We got nine little babes (had to stand in line at the hardware store for 90 minutes this time!), and they are just the cutest little fuzzballs.
...looking forward to the end of home renovations! We just got a new fence (so happy to have this for our Rover babies!), Dan is building a new chicken coop palace in the backyard for our larger flock, we had most of our HVAC system/duct work replaced AND we are in the middle of re-siding our house. I’m ready for the noise, dust, garbage to be gone so we can enjoy all these upgrades (and work our butts off to pay for them).
And Sarah is currently…
....eating a hyperfixation breakfast that shouldn’t be expensive but in these unprecedented times, unfortunately, is. At least twice (or thrice) a week I pop a frozen Trader Joe’s hash brown in the air fryer and scramble an egg with garlic and sriracha. I top the hash brown with fresh spinach and the egg and YUM.
...making all the things! I have been trying lots of new recipes in our kitchen and decided recently to try to make a babka fit for St. Patrick’s Day dessert. I used this recipe from Spice and Stiletto and the PRIDE I felt when it turned out perfectly? Unmatched.
...listening to the newest episode of Happy Wife Happy Life with ER Fightmaster as the special guest. The pod is always one of my favorite listens but there is a bit where ER says, “When you were talking about Mr. Bean, I felt sick.” and it made me laugh out LOUD.
...reading (or re-reading) the Clown in a Cornfield series by Adam Cesare. I saw the movie trailer recently and it looks spooky good! The books are YA so they are a quick, kooky, creepy read. It’s like Stephen King for teens in the Midwest!
...watching reruns of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. You already know that I’m an astute observer of the Real Housewives experience so when I found out that some of the original women from Atlanta are coming back (YEARS later for some of them) to revive the franchise I had to tune in…but first I have to refresh my mem cause I forgot many things.
...loving the promise of Spring! The Chicago area has been going through it but we know Spring temps are nearly here and they will be wonderful. Last week we had our first warm day of the season (followed by snow less than 48 hours later, welcome to the midwest) and it renewed my zest for life. Seriously. I cleaned the house, threw open every single window, and enjoyed the heck out of that fresh air….right until I had to close every window and turn the heat back on one day later.
...looking forward to my garden! In the last few months I’ve restarted my countertop garden of romaine and green onions, had a bountiful harvest from my herbaceous Aerogarden, and tending to my sourdough starter. I’ve decided to take it to the outdoors in warmer months and have a double raised garden bed with an intricate gate grown system planned. My dreams are big and we will see how this works out…
